TANZANIA - GREAT MIGRATION & CALVING
ABOUT THIS TRIP
Embark on an unforgettable Tanzanian adventure, where the vast Serengeti teems with wildlife, and the Great Migration unfolds before your eyes. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder brimming with diverse species in a breathtaking setting. Explore the baobab-dotted landscapes of Tarangire, home to large elephant herds and an incredible variety of wildlife. Stand in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa, and soak in the rich cultures of the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. Tanzania offers a journey of awe, discovery, and connection to nature.
Best wildlife viewing seasons
The Great Migration runs from Aug to Oct, offering a chance to witness one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife events. Herds of wildebeest and zebras brave the Mara River, crossing the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in search of fresh grazing.
The Calving season runs from Feb to Mar, where you will witness many young animals, and consequently have a higher chance of seeing hunts.
Beyond these peak seasons, Jan, Jun, and Jul months also offer great weather and excellent wildlife viewing.
Available trip formats
Private trips are ideal for: honeymooners, couples, families, and friends. We provide custom itineraries offering flexibility in dates, trip duration and a pace of travel.
Group trips are ideal for: solo travellers, couples, small groups open to meeting like-minded adventurers. They offer a shared experience and cost savings, as larger groups reduce per-person costs.
EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Tarangire's unique landscape features ancient Baobab trees and diverse wildlife drawn to its river during the dry season. Keep an eye out for the park's rare tree-climbing lions, often spotted resting in Acacia trees. Tarangire is also renowned for its large elephant herds, among the biggest in the world.

NGORONGORO CRATER
Once a volcano, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world's largest intact caldera, with a huge variety of wildlife including black rhinos (just ~6,000 left in the wild), lesser flamingos, and African wild dogs. It's often easier to spot wildlife in Ngorongoro Crater as the landscape is almost entirely flat.

THE SERENGETI
Witness the Great Migration in the Serengeti as thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross vast plains. Encounter prowling lions and endless savannas in one of nature’s greatest spectacles—this spectacular journey is an unforgettable experience that leaves lasting memories.

TANZANIAN TRIBES
Get a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of authentic local tribes. You'll be taken on a hunt with the Hadza, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa, and also meet with the Datoga, a semi-nomadic warrior tribe who specialise in blacksmithing.
